What is the Post Office Scam
Post office scammers are after your personal info, bank details, and money
The holiday season is a time for giving. It’s also a time when fraudsters work overtime to try and steal your personal and bank information, and your money. Here are the common holiday scams that you should watch out for:
Fake giveaways
You’re offered a fancy giveaway in exchange for your bank and personal details.
Remember: If an offer is too good to be true, it probably is.
Fake charity scammers
Scammers pretend to be representatives from charitable organizations to steal your hard-earned money and your personal details.
Remember: Check the official websites of the charitable organizations you want to help to know how you can donate to them safely, securely, and directly.
Fake greeting card
You receive e-cards with data-stealing malware or a suspicious link that may lead to a phishing site.
Remember: If an unknown or unverified source sends you a direct message or email asking you to open an e-card, click a link or button, or download an attachment, DON’T do it. Protect your account and online safety by ignoring, deleting, and blocking any kind of suspicious message. Yes, even if it’s a bright Christmas e-card.
Fake sale
Offers products at a really low price, only for the seller to disappear and your purchase to go undelivered.
Remember: Don’t risk your money and safety by going for sketchy sale offers. Always use and shop on official apps or websites of legitimate ecommerce websites.
Fake raffle
A fraudster requires personal and bank details to register you, and takes your savings, too!
Remember: NEVER share your bank details, OTP, and personal information to anyone
