How it can look
1. Email sender is from an unverified and unofficial address.
2. The letter doesn’t personally address you.
3. Requires you to pay an employment fee or some type of bond.
What it is
An employment scam is when scammers pretend to be recruiters or HR employees of reputable companies. These scammers post job openings on social media, offer you a job through SMS, email, or phone call, or bait you to apply via fake career sites that they created.
If you respond, you go through a fake hiring process. Once “hired”, you’re required to pay an employment fee or some type of bond.
What you should do
1. Verify if the source is legitimate before you send your pre-employment requirements.
2. Don’t pay any fee or provide your personal bank account details for a job.
3. Use only trusted job search platforms, such as JobStreet, LinkedIn, or the company’s official career site.
